Mote’s Marine & Freshwater Aquaculture Research Program develops cutting-edge technologies to meet the growing demand for seafood and restore depleted recreational and commercial fisheries stocks. Our research takes place at the 200-acre Mote Aquaculture Research Park (MAP) where we investigate spawning and rearing technologies for a wide range of species, including snook, pompano, flounder, amberjack, red drum, snapper, zebrafish, abalone, shrimp, hard corals, and sea urchins. Mote is leading the way in expanding marine fish farming to inland locations using recirculating technology, addressing land and regulatory challenges while promoting sustainable practices. Learn about our efforts to integrate fish and wetland plant production, explore alternative energy solutions, and delve into the world of marine aquaponics.
At Aviva, we love to celebrate our community with fun and inclusive events year-round. See upcoming social events, lectures and holiday celebrations for residents and their families.
